Ya’ll know we love a good staycation but this one hit a little different. When people think of Miami, they think of beaches, bikinis, yachts, clubs etc.. and that was our life in Miami back in the day. In fact, Matthew and I stayed at the Kimpton Epic hotel in Miami just 5 years ago before we had three babies. So when we were invited to try out the “Family Getaway” package we were even more intrigued.

As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with a super sweet treat for everyone. The adorable edible floral treat for the kids, the cutest milk inside the cutest cooler, and a make-your-own-mojito treat for mom and dad. The kids were SO excited to walk into the room and see these treats first thing so it was already starting off amazing. We also received a sweet welcome basket filled with LainSnow family matching swim suits (in the most adorable colors). It also included sweet Miami coloring books and crayons including a voucher to the Children’s Museum.

We started out with dinner the first night in the beautiful rooftop restaurant in the hotel, Area 31. The views were spectacular as we watched the sunset and ate the most amazing food. Although pricey, I’d say it was worth it because I had the most delicious truffle mushroom risotto and creamiest pistachio ice cream. I was in a trance so I didn’t quick check to see if anyone else’s meal was great but they all say it was incredible. I can’t believe how much the kids ate the entire weekend!

We headed to the pool first thing in the morning in our matching swimsuits. They were adorable and I couldn’t get over Simi’s little shorts. The kids got their own little “kids cabana” that was filled with games, mini chairs and tables, and some fun pool toys. If the pool wasn’t entertaining enough, that cabana sure was! Kimpton has two rooftop pools, one in which was heated and both super spacious. I loved that we could sit anywhere and see the kids swimming in the pool. The pool food was also hitting with massive portions. Mommy and daddy also got some adult capri suns and those were fun and delicious.

We got a voucher to the Children’s Museum in Miami and that was just a quick 8 minute drive away. The kids had a blast and to be honest, so did we. It was so clever and fun for everyone. Not to mention how massive the Museum was. I loved how South Florida themed it was with all the incredibly detailed spaces, from Publix to the Carnival cruise ports. We were there for hours and even grabbed some fun toys to bring home from the gift shop.

We truly loved the room set up. It was a massive space, where the kids were sleeping next to us but we still had some privacy. The hotel also provided a crib for Simi so we didn’t need to haul a pack and play with us. The bathroom included a giant bathtub that the kids loved, one thing I think lots of hotels miss. A pretty giant shower may look nice but it doesn’t help families with littles!  The floor to ceiling windows and long patio gave us breathtaking views of the city and the inter-coastal. The kids sat by the window watching the busy cars fly by and the slow boats float by.

The location was great being a part of the city it’s right next to a Whole Foods, theater, and lots of other restaurants but it also sits right up against the inter-coastal where we saw lots of people jumping on rented boat tours. All in all, we loved the Kimpton Epic hotel as a fun family staycation spot with amazing food and access to some fun activities. The kids didn’t want to leave, so I think it’s safe to say, we had a great time!
