If you’ve been around here for more than five minutes, you already know one thing about our house: every room has to multitask. We don’t have a sprawling floor plan with extra guest suites sitting empty. What we do have is a small home filled with a lot of life and a lot of kids. However, between cousins passing through, friends that stay too late to drive home, and family flying in for the holidays, we always need a guest room. And that’s exactly why Simi’s room has been… let’s just say… a journey.

For a while, we kept a full-size bed in his room because we genuinely love hosting. We want family to feel comfortable. But here’s the thing: When guests weren’t visiting, that full-size bed just lived there… taking up precious play space. And if you have boys, you know play space is not optional. It’s essential infrastructure. Lego cities. Wrestling matches. Blanket forts. “The floor is lava.” All of it requires square footage. We were constantly rearranging furniture before guests came, swapping beds in and out, and stuffing mattresses in the closet like no one was looking. We needed one bed that could do it all, work for our son every single day, can be comfortable enough for guests, and not dominate the entire room. So we decided to try the Koala Bed.

The setup was surprisingly simple no complicated hardware. Truly within 30 minutes, it was up, sturdy, and solid, and immediately, the room felt lighter. We tested the mattress right away with guests during the holidays and they all agreed the mattress support feels solid. It genuinely feels like a proper, adult-ready bed, not at all like a a regular couch bed. That was huge for us because hospitality matters in our home, we never want someone to feel like they’re sleeping in the leftover corner. The couch is comfortable alone and the extra cushions on the back and side can be used as pillows. We did a lot of research and of all the couches out there, the Kloudcell® topper was a huge fan favorite and it’s safe to say, they were right!

The biggest win was Simi got his room back. The Koala is neutral enough to grow with him which is what we were aiming for. We finally changed out the frames from when he was a baby to some prints from etsy to make it look less like a nursery and more like a little boy room. We absolutely adore this room now and it’s incredibly warm, welcoming to guests, spacious for play dates, and incredibly Simi.
