St. Lucia, you surprised us girl. I don’t know if St. Lucia is a girl but since some locals were referring to the rain and Mother Marigot crying, I’m sticking to it. Since we live in sunny south Florida, we don’t usually have a big desire to travel to the Caribbean islands but St. Lucia just sounds luxurious so we gave it a go. You will soon see there are some unique landmarks that makes this island so special and this place quickly became one of our favorites.
TRAVEL
Our first trip of the summer without kids and boy did we take advantage of it. Instead of spending so much time at the airport per usual, we decided to pack carryons only and breeze through the lines. Except when we reached St. Lucia we needed to fill out an immigration form, which I tried to do ahead of time but couldn’t. The flight was just under four hours and the drive from the airport was just over an hour. Make sure you bring ginger or Dramamine for that drive because it’s curvy… but also so beautiful.
ZOETRY MARIGOT BAY RESORT
Luxurious. I mean I knew St. Lucia attracts a luxury crowd but the luxury that this resort gave just from exiting the car was top tier. We had the most incredible service the entire time. Multiple checks a day to make sure we had everything we needed in the room leaving coconut cookies after each cleaning. Between the helpful staff to the professionalism of each member there, we were treated like we were royal somewhere.
Let’s talk about the aesthetics of the resort. The location was phenomenal, sitting along side a hilltop overlooking a bay, you just couldn’t turn your head and not see something beautiful. I absolutely adored the architecture of the buildings, very Caribbean chic and felt so different and so unique. What I mean by that is, when you typically travel to international resorts, it all sort of looks the same. Zoetry had a very unique, true to St. Lucian feel to it and I so appreciated it. Even those many flights of stairs we took to get to our room… worth it.
With four restaurants and a few quaint shops along the bay, theres much to choose from. Because Zoetry Marigot Bay being a boutique resort, you really get some authentic meals served daily. I was pleasantly surprised to see many places to tuck away and have a quiet drink or a community one. We enjoyed the rum cave almost every evening, it was giving speak easy vibes and we loved it.
The resort comes with so many things to do such as a sunset cruise, private couples tree house dinners, luxurious spa services and so much more. You can take a free taxi just a short trip across the bay to a little island where the very first Dr. Doolittle was made. We probably would have taken advantage of it more if we hadn’t tried to do everything there is to do in St. Lucia in just two days!

ACTIVITIES
Sunset Cruise – this was more of a turn up than romantic but dancing with each other on a boat is our kind of romantic. They provided drinks and music and it was a beautiful and fun time. The sunset falls fast over there so make sure to snap those pictures quickly!

Sail around the Island – We did a west coast sail through the villages of Anse La Raye and Canaries which were so beautiful. It rained on us a for a little and then emerged the beautiful view of the Pitons in Soufriere. We took a giant catamaran with loads of other people from different resorts, but I think next time we’d try to do a private boat to make it more intimate. We docked in Soufriere and started a day long excursion there.

Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens & Mineral Baths – A very surprising treat! We did not know of the rich history this luscious land held and it was incredible to walk through with a guide. The guide shared with us the political history of the land as well as the diverse St. Lucia plants, flowers, and birds. The colorful waterfall was the most beautiful I’ve seen and would have been a beautiful photo op. We saw a few people relaxing in the warm mineral baths and if we had time, we would have too!

Sulphur Springs – We literally stoped by a “drive-in volcano” The Soufrier Volcano is considered a dormant volcano and one of the best parts of it are the mud baths! We covered ourselves in exfoliating mud and then walked into the mud baths which is told to help heal sun burns, eczema, arthritis, sore joints, and more. It was an experience you should all try!

Hotel Chocolat – St. Lucia’s climate is ideal for growing cacao trees and it’s become one of it’s main exports. We got to tour the property and see how they grow the cacao trees as well as climb a hill to this incredible bar experience. The experience of a lifetime was taking those estate grown cacao beans and creating our very own chocolate bar from scratch. Although we didn’t, you could stay and have lunch there for some pretty unique options.

Martha’s Table – This was our one meal outside of the resort and I can’t speak more highly of it. It was a local favorite and well deserved. This homey mom and daughter restaurant served us a home cooked meal St. Lucian style. The portions were huge and we ate every bit of it!

Shoutout to Funjet Vacations and Zoetry Marigot Bay for creating such an incredible trip for us, full of unexpected surprises! It truly felt like we were on a second honeymoon!
