Matthew joked that we had done more in this summer than he had in his whole childhood. We were outside, okay! We needed one last staycation to finalize our busiest summer yet! We headed north just 40 minutes away to Vero Beach. I was excited for this one because we have never hung out in Vero before, but I’ve heard good things! Here’s what we loved and didn’t on our 3 day staycation at the Kimpton Vero Beach Resort.

We checked into the beautiful Florida coastal resort in the early evening. The decor and little corners were so cute of the resort. They even had a little library corner for anyone to grab and book and lounge. Our room was very spacious and a great setup for our family. We love a separate living room area for our kids to run around in. The patio over looked the pool and partial beach. Traveling with the kids, it’s always better to have a pool view, those little ones could care less about tranquil ocean sounds.

We spent the first evening at one of Kimpton’s in house restaurants, Cobalt. We sat outside so we had an amazing view of the tides rolling in. The service was next level let me tell you. I wish I had remembered our servers name, but he understood the family dynamic and got the kids situated and eating ASAP. As we waited for our food, he also made them cute origami figures to play with while they waited. We spent a total of 3 hours at dinner which if you have kids, you know is torture, but it was surprisingly easy and refreshing. We had the outdoors and fun staff to keep them entertained. The food was amazing from their fresh flavorful scallops to their juicy tenderloin. We even had the kids eating calamari and lobster bisque (Penelope’s favorite).

The hotel had a crib for us to use, another thing I love about family friendly hotels. If you’re traveling by flight, you’ll find out that you cannot check a pack n play for free like you can with a stroller so that has been a nightmare for us in the past. That’s why I always highlight if hotels have this option because it’s important to us! We set that sucker up in the bathroom per usual (the bathroom was spacious). Simeon slept great in there for about 7 hours then woke up and realized we are next door and we better come cuddle with him.

The next morning we woke up and went straight to the pool. We didn’t bother with breakfast although, room service looked amazing. A quick granola bar is all the kids would take because their excitement for the pool overpowered their hunger. I wouldn’t say the pool was small because it was quaint just like the resort. It’s not a mega hotel so we never felt overcrowded. There were surprisingly a lot of kids in the pool that were our kids’ ages. They lived their best lives, drinking virgin pina coladas at Heatons, the pool side restaurant, and making new friends. We had lunch by the pool which was amazing as well. Fish tacos, wings, chicken tenders, smash burger, salsa. Simi also took a 2 hour nap by the pool which gave me some reading time.

After 5+ hours swimming, we headed to the beach which was just a few steps away from the pool making it oh-so-convenient. The resort had chairs and umbrellas by the beach as well. They set us up with towels and one of the servers caught my comment about needing a coffee and brought me an americano out of the goodness of his heart. So appreciate that guy, man I am so forgetful with names. The beach was beautiful and not full of seaweed like we are use to at our own beaches. The kids played in the sand for the next 3 hours and it was incredibly relaxing.

We ended up walking around that evening to a park right next door and a bunch of unique shops just down the road. We didn’t realize how early everything closes and ended up just making the cut ordering some Italian food to go. We had a quiet little date night in the room while the kids slept from being in the sun the whole day. We ended up missing this awesome event the resort put on, Stargazing by the Water. This astronomer takes you out on the water and I guess.. star gazes. We are sad we didn’t get to enjoy that but had to mention in case you happen to stay there during one of the scheduled times they put it on!

This trip was surprisingly relaxing with all three kids and we are so glad we got to do this before we head back into the school year. The Kimpton Vero Beach Resort was family friendly, beautiful, convenient, and incredibly fun!

P.S. Check out our last staycation in Kimpton Miami. This Florida eclectic resort was a vibe too.
